The GMC Safari is the most fun I've had in a van with my clothes on

If there was one vehicle to epitomize the phrase “Shaggin’ wagon” it would be a conversion van. In a close second would be the GMC Safari. From it’s upright captain’s chair position to its bouncy suspension this thing provides a... let’s go with “unique” driving experience.

Only interior pic I have happens to be a selfie so... deal with it. Point made is this is the cleanest Safari in the universe.

I would totally own one of these if I had to have a van. So much fun. Going 70mph down an off-ramp and tap the brakes? The whole van pitches forward and launches itself back upwards in a move that is equal parts terrifying and thrilling.

vans are fun. I cant even explain it. growing up we had gm vans with 350 motors autos and drivin right over the drivers front wheel with that super light sterring is fun also good visibility out the front.

These things are the best! After the 86 Caprice Wagon got totaled, my dad bought a 91 Safari AWD extended wheelbase model to replace it. They got the second row captains chairs so my sister and I wouldn’t fight. Also, we put over 200k miles on it with only 1 problem ever - at about 30k miles it started randomly going into limp mode sometimes. Took a few trips to the dealership to get it diagnosed, but it was a loose connection inside the transmission. We sold it to a friend who put another 50k miles on it. He sold it to a guy in his church who shipped it to his family in Guatemala. Last we heard it had over 325k miles on it and still no problems.

My dad also had a 98 Safari Panel Van for his business. Eventually he moved up to a full size van and the Safari just sat. I convinced him to give it to me, and I drove it around for about 2 months before someone hit me and totaled it. Such a shame too, that thing was awesome and would go everywhere. And I could fit so many people in it, or my CBR1000RR with the windshield and upper fairing removed. So much room for activities!
